Before the test, you will be seated comfortably and provided instructions by our trained respiratory therapist. During the test:
Breathing Maneuvers: You'll be asked to breathe into a mouthpiece connected to a machine that measures various aspects of lung function.
Different Tests: The tests may include spirometry (measuring the amount and speed of inhaled and exhaled air), lung volume measurements, and diffusion capacity to assess gas exchange.
Instructions for Accuracy: Clear and precise instructions will be given to ensure accurate test results. For instance, you may be asked to take deep breaths, hold your breath for a short duration, or breathe in specific patterns.
After completing the PFTs, our respiratory specialist will analyze the results. You'll receive immediate feedback or be advised on when the results will be available. These results will be used by your healthcare provider to determine the best course of action or treatment plan if necessary.
